Vineyard & Winemaking Philosophy
Crafted from a low-cropped, dry-grown vineyard with a prized north-westerly aspect, John Evans’ wines reflect the character of a remarkable site and a meticulous approach. The vines are holistically farmed without irrigation, hand-pruned to the traditional poussard method, and carefully hand-picked at optimal ripeness to preserve the integrity of each berry.
In the winery, a minimal-intervention philosophy is employed — natural fermentation, no fining, and no filtration — allowing the purity of the fruit to speak clearly. Focus on structure and balance underpins every decision, from vineyard to bottle.
The resulting wine displays incredible complexity and concentration, with vibrant berry fruit, a structured and weighted mid-palate, and a finish that lingers with impressive length. It is a true expression of place and season — guided, but never overshadowed, by the hand of the winemaker.
John Evans believes that great wine begins in the vineyard, and that the fruit should always speak for itself.
